I had a fantastic weekend catching up with my fab friends Louise and Shona in London this weekend. I went to see the Lichtenstein exhibition at the Tate Modern, saw Craig Charles at his funk and Soul night at the Jamm in Brixton and had the most delicious coffee and halloumi wrap in French & Grace in Brixton Village on the Sunday. Just fabulous.

April Music Of The Month, Wild Belle - Isles

So this month, my new music album is Wild Belle, Isles. It has a bit of a reggae vibe mixed with sweet vocals, a great soundtrack for the Summer.

Had a great night seeing Hidden Orchestra at the Thekla last night.

Beth Jeans Houghton And The Hooves Of Destiny

Continuing to keep up one of my new years resolutions - to buy one new piece of music a month - February's choice was Beth Jeans Houghton And The Hooves Of Destiny, with the debut album Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose. I have to say it really is amazing, I love her distinctive voice, which sometimes reaches operatic echelons and is enriched with dreamy violins and harmonies. Chris and I were lucky enough to catch her performing live at the Louisiana in Bristol last year which is a tiny venue and felt very intimate and low key, the best way to see live music in my opinion. Saw some lovely Jazz last night at The Canteen in Montpelier. Can't wait for the weekend, London here I come!

A Fairly Productive Weekend

This weekend. I was proud of my recycling efforts - using old tin cans as flower pots. I aim to have a whole windowsill full soon! I cleaned the flat, top to bottom (getting a little bored along the way). Chris was given some amazing custom (moulded to his own ears) earphones worth a whopping £700. And, finally I have begun the planning of a very exciting project!

I thought I would be super excited about the Jubilee celebrations this week. Maybe it was the weather that dampened my spirits, maybe it was the incessant coverage on the TV of slow boating movements, soggy paintings and lots of waiting around but my heart wasn't really in it. I watched about 10 minutes of the Flotilla, or floater as we like to refer to it and then switched off for the rest of the weekend. As an avid collector of Royal memorabilia (in particular mugs) I thought I would be loving it, but somehow the memorabilia was more exciting than the event itself. Anyway, weather aside, I did have a lovely weekend. Starting of with the soggy Dot to Dot festival in Bristol with my Manchestaaa chum Fran and pals, followed by a Cornish family get-together, A gorgeous dinner party in the briefly sunny Bathford, Latino lunch with yummy mummy's Sarah, Polly and stunning baby Faith and ending in a day of Gym action, St Nicolas Market browsing and munching with my favourite boy, Chris. Busy, busy, but entirely lovely.

Bento Beauty

Last night was my surprise night out for Chris (we each do one a month). I bought tickets to see Alt-J at the Cooler and we started the night with a Japanese meal at Masa. We both ordered bento boxes which were yummy! Mine had teriyaki salmon, seafood tempura, salad, pickled mooli, miso soup, steamed sticky rice and huge, jumbo grilled king prawns. It really was pretty good. Then off to Alt-J who were great too. A good night.
